History

In February 2006, Mayor Will Wynn of Austin and Mayor John Cowman of Leander tasked a diverse group of civic leaders, representing business, non-profit, government, and education groups and interests, to examine the need for an independent voice for public transportation in the region.

These leaders quickly agreed that a discussion about public transportation in Central Texas would be greatly enhanced by including more citizens in the process of understanding what the issues are, and how to participate in decision making.  In six short months, the Alliance for Public Transportation was formed; and it has been active in regional public transportation discussions since.  We invite you to join us.
